JACKS weekend is the first weekend trip we go on as a club. This is a long running tradition in the club with ‘oldies’ always making the effort to show up and pass on their knowledge to new members as well as catching up with current members. The location has changed over the years but for 2016 we are headed to Lahinch, Co. Clare for a weekend of kayaking which you will never forget!
Every year there is a ‘fancy dress’ for the bus up on a Friday and it is based on the letters of JACKS with it being rotated through each year. Last years’ JACKS the theme was K and as seen in the picture there were some fantastic costumes with the committee last year actually going as the Kardashians, fake tan and all!! This year the theme is S and we hope you’re all thinking about your costumes!
On the Saturday we head to Limerick and run the Castleconnel river, this is another great river for our new members to continue to grow and improve their skills as kayakers, putting everything you’ve learned in the first few weeks into practice.
On the Sunday, tide dependent, we will head kayak surfing on Lahinch beach which is really one of the highlights of the trip!
SPACES ON THIS TRIP ARE LIMITED! They are given out on a first come first served basis with our secretary Orlaith Tyrell taking deposits of €25 and the full cost of the trip totalling roughly €45.
